Ganglioside Anticorpi
Gangliosides are key players in determining the nature of tetraspanin interactions and are major components of the tetraspanin web. The GD2 gangliosides are sialic acid-containing glycosphingolipids that play a role in signal transduction and cell-cell recognition. Ganglioside GD2 production is controlled by GM2/GD2 Synthase. Ganglioside GD3 is produced by the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to GM3. This reaction is catalyzed by the type II membrane protein GD3 Synthase. Ganglioside GD3 is known to be important for cell adhesion and growth of cultured malignant cells. Ganglioside sialidase plays a role in modulating the ganglioside content of the lipid bilayer at the level of membrane-bound sialyl glycoconjugates. Ganglioside sialidase is responsible for the catalytic hydrolysis of a-glycosidic linkages on terminal sialic residues in oligosaccharides, glycoproteins, glycolipids, colominic acid and synthetic substrates.
