1400 W is a highly potent and selective inhibitor of inducible nitric-oxide synthase (iNOS). Studies show that in the presence of 1400 W there is reduced tumor growth in EMT6 murine mammary adenocarcinoma. 1400W is a weak inhibitor of endothelial NOS (eNOS). It has been observed that 1400 W suppressed the ulcerogenic response in arthritic rats and reduced oxidative pentose phosphate cycle (OPPC) in RAW 264.7 cells.
